Drexel University serves a diverse population in center city Philadelphia. This 6,000 SF, $2,000,000 Women’s Care Center was designed to create an environment where patients felt at ease and staff could work efficiently. Clinical space was broken into pods to reduce the scale of the department and the design provides natural light throughout the floor by positioning open plan spaces at ends of halls. Each pod has a dedicated staff work area to minimize distances clinical teams must cover. The color palette is soothing and materials were chosen for their acoustic properties. The complete effect is a place in which patients feel comfortable and staff work effectively.
